45th 2nd Wessex DIVISION

2/6th Bn Hampshire Regt.
2/7th Bn Hampshire Regt.

The Division was formed in Great Britain in October 1914 from the Home Service men of the Territorial Force units in the 43rd Division. The Division went to India in December 1914 to replace the Regular Battalions which were being sent to France. The Division remained there sending drafts to the fighting units in the Middle East.

134th (2nd Hampshire) Brigade.

2/4th Bn Hampshire Regt. Oct 1914 - Jan 1915. To the 4th (Indian) Division.
2/5th Bn Hampshire Regt. Oct 1914 - Jan 1915. To the 9th (Indian) Division.
2/6th Bn Hampshire Regt. Oct 1914 - Dec 1914. Remained in Great Britain and was absorbed by the 5th Reserve Bn.
2/7th Bn Hampshire Regt. Oct 1914 - Jan 1915. To the 9th (Indian) Division.

135th (2nd South Western) Brigade.

2/4th Bn Somerset Light Infantry. Sep 1914 - Jan 1915. To the 9th (Indian) Division.
2/5th Bn Somerset Light Infantry. Sep 1914 - Jan 1915. To the Burma Division.
2/4th Bn Dorsetshire Regt. Sep 1914 - Jan 1915. To the 6th Poona divisional area.
2/4th Bn Wiltshire Regt. Oct 1914 - Dec 1914. To the 6th Poona divisional area.

136th (2nd Devon and Cornwall) Brigade.

2/4th Bn Devonshire Regt. Oct 1914 - Jan 1915. To the 9th (Indian) Division.
2/5th Bn Devonshire Regt. Oct 1914 - Dec 1914. Left the Division and stayed in Great Britain until Aug/Sep 1915. The Battalion then went to Egypt.
2/6th Bn Devonshire Regt. Oct 1914 - Jan 1915. To the 6th Poona divisional area.
2/4th Bn Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry. Sep 1914 - Jan 1915. To the 4th (Indian) Division.
